Rummage Is Coming

Sunday, April 22nd cars will be lining up to drop off their treasures.  If you’ve ever worked on this day, you know what a tremendous task it is to unload and disperse items to the areas where they will be sold.

WE NEED YOU!

If you have time, during the week, to help out, here are some suggestions:

You could help in the Jewelry Department

Treasures in bags and boxes galore,

Mysteriously appear at the Katonah Room door,

Baubles, bangles, and rings are all combined,

To untie, unknot to see what we will find,

With nimble fingers, loops. and even dental tools,

We uncover silver, gold, gems, and jewels,

But rest assured there is jewelry of costume,

Where you might hear giggling across the room,

“Where did they wear this?” you might hear one say,

But we know there will be customers ready to pay,

So, if your curiosity is buzzing and ringing,

Join us in Jewelry and you might come out blinging!

Or you could work at the Furniture/Art, Lamps & Frames tents

We take all warm bodies!  No experience, resumes, etc.  needed.  Plus, we have great benefits; lots of fun and excitement, comfortable seating, no wrong answers, and sometimes music and napping. If anyone knows someone outfitting a home, it's the place to be!

Or you could work in the Sweaters & Shoes tent

Save your gym membership fee! Take advantage of a unique opportunity for PURPOSEFUL exercise by volunteering on the North Hill slope during our annual Rummage Sale. You will improve your balance selling sweaters, shoes, accessories.

Regarding Shoes: Have you ever had the urge to be a match maker?  To find that perfect “other half”? Here’s your opportunity!  In addition to finding satisfaction of reuniting lost “SOLES” you get to see different styles of footwear and you’re sure to say, “I had a pair like this back in the day.” Or, “how does anyone walk in these?” It’s also interesting to see the shoppers’ reactions.  So, sign up for an hour or two.

Or you could work in Linens

Discover linens from the Reagan era.  Learn about textiles. Any and all items defy classification such as a mermaid sleeping bag (we think), an herb drying contraption, and any other uncategorized, unidentifiable item that may have a bit of fabric attached. Learn to distinguish between antique, classic timeless items or maybe it’s just old. Who’s to say - we are. There is something for everyone some treasures and some (dare I say it) - trash.

Or you could work in Boutique

Boutique is the best!  The Boutique enjoys the best weather during the Rummage Sale!  If it's raining or cold outside, it is warm and dry in Fellowship Hall.  If it's too hot outside, it is airconditioned in Fellowship Hall!  Plus, we are closest to all the food our church family donates for our volunteers.  Come work in the Boutique!

And then there’s the Toy Tent and the Children’s Clothing Tent

Ooo and aaah over all the adorable fashions for the wee babes.  Be astounded by the variety, color and sounds of the toy tent.  You’ll increase your serotonin by interacting with the delightful, smallest humans who come to shop.

Or you could work in Adult Clothing

If you like to wear clothes every day, sorting and selling women’s and men’s clothing is the perfect rummage job for you. Shoppers find real bargains, but there is a likely chance you might even find something for yourself. We turn the Rummage Mountain of clothes into neatly organized categories on tables and racks and in bins. On opening day, we watch the eager shoppers enjoy the sport of flinging tops, tees and accessories and stuffing their finds into bags of all sizes. We have lots of laughs and camaraderie.

Why do we do this?  Rummage is an opportunity to reduce, reuse and recycle for the Katonah Community, an opportunity for people to make purchases at the lowest prices and to benefit local, national and international charities.

RUMMAGE IS CARING, SHARING AND LOVE!
