Friends,
I am writing on my first day at Katonah Presbyterian Church. Jan DePalo was here to greet me when I arrived at 8:30 this morning, and she has been a patient guide and helper as I have unpacked and begun asking the questions that will help me get to know you. Several of you have already stopped by the office to welcome me. I really appreciate your warmth and hospitality.
KPC’s Personnel Committee were terrific ambassadors for the church, and I am thoroughly energized by the prospect of working with you to maintain and enhance your post-COVID momentum over the next six to ten months. By that time, God willing, your Pastor Nominating Committee will have identified KPC’s next permanent pastor.
My wife, Sarah Finlayson, and I will be moving into the manse next Monday, October 3, along with our 15-year-old Schnoodle (Schnauzer – Poodle mix), Abby. Our thanks to all of you who have been involved in sprucing the manse up prior to our move. While both Sarah and I grew up in the greater New York City area and lived in the city for about 25 years, we never really knew Westchester County until we served in Pocantico Hills over the past three years. We look forward to living in this lovely community of Katonah and to exploring northern Westchester in great depth.
I tend to be an early bird, so expect I will concentrate on my formal office hours during the mornings. However, I am happy to schedule meetings with you at your convenience, whether at the church, your home, or a local coffee shop. If it’s easier for you, a Zoom meeting or a good old-fashioned phone call are also fine with me. It’s my hope to get to speak individually with each of you in the weeks ahead. If you need pastoral support at any time, please let me know.
See you in church!
