Can you attend this church regularly or infrequently without becoming a member? Of course, and we hope you will always feel welcome. One Presbyterianism is that both your faith and feeling of community grow by becoming part of a church through membership, and we feel membership is an important step in one's spiritual growth.

When you indicate that you wish to investigate membership you will be invited to meet with members of the Membership Development at a time convenient for you. You will be given a brochure describing the Presbyterian church and beliefs, and you will have an opportunity to ask questions about membership, about your responsibilities as a church member, and about the procedure for being welcomed into this congregation.

When you have made the decision to join you will be asked to fill out a brief form indicating whether you are joining this church by letter of transfer from another church, by reaffirmation of your faith, or by confirmation. The Membership Development Committee will happily answer any questions you have about these different methods, as well as discuss any concerns you may have about making this important commitment.

The Membership Development committee is responsible for accepting new members, and you will be further welcomed by your Shepherd before the church service at 9:30 on the Sunday morning that you become a full-fledged Katonah Presbyterian.  At that time you will meet elders responsible for various aspects of our church life as you share a brief coffee/tea time in the church parlor. You may also, if you like, be given a quick tour of the church so that you'll know where different activities take place.

During the worship service you will be introduced to the congregation as new members. You will have been assigned a "shepherd" who has volunteered to assist you in this transition time; your shepherd will stand with you at the front of the sanctuary. At the conclusion of the church service you will be asked to stand with your shepherd at the front of the sanctuary so that members of the congregation can greet, meet, and welcome you into the body of our church.

Your shepherd will provide you with a copy of the church phone directory and also the most recent photo directory. The shepherd will continue to assist you for about a year, or longer if you wish, to introduce to you various areas of the church's life where you might wish to become more involved.

Our church now has approximately 475 members. Our membership has been growing steadily. We believe that this is the result of strong pastoral leadership, a friendly congregation, and an excellent, broad program that addresses a wide spectrum of member interests. You can see evidence of this program as you browse through the various pages of our Web site.
